Their deities are revered side-by-side, reflecting a blend of Tantric symbolism and ancient animistic beliefs. An ancient Hindu text describes Kathmandu as the “Land of the Gods,” surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is said that there were once as many temples as houses, and as many idols as people. Indeed, Kathmandu boasts one of the largest collections of historical monuments and shrines ever built.
Pokhara Valley is situated at an altitude of 827 meters above sea level and lies 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. Prithvi Raj Marg is the main highway linking Pokhara with Bhairahawa via the Siddhartha Raj Marg (Sunauli border). The valley combines long ranges of world-famous snow-clad peaks, emerald lakes, turbulent rivers with deep gorges, and picturesque villages inhabited primarily by Gurungs and Thakalis.Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, and the five peaks of the Annapurna Himalayas. Its numerous lakes, known as "tal" in Nepali, offer fishing, boating, and swimming opportunities, with Phewa, Begnas, and Rupa Lakes being the most famous. Pokhara is also known as the center of adventure and is the starting point for many popular trekking and rafting destinations. The serenity of Phewa Lake and the majesty of Machhapuchhare (6,977 m) rising behind it create an ambiance of peace and magic.
Chitwan National Park is home to endangered animals such as the Royal Bengal tiger, wild elephants, the greater one-horned rhinoceros, swamp deer, and blackbuck. Other endangered species include the Gharial crocodile, marsh mugger, and Gangetic dolphin. Endangered birds found in the park include the Bengal Florican, lesser Florican, and Sarus crane. More than 30 different mammals, over 230 species of birds, and several species of snakes, lizards, and fish have been recorded in the park’s forests, grasslands, and rivers. In addition to resident species, many miratory birds visit the park seasonally.
One of the most important highlights of the entire trip is the hike to Poon Hill—possibly one of the most spectacular mountain viewpoints on earth. When the sun rises, it touches the snow-capped summits of the Himalayan giants: Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna (8,091 m), and the Manaslu range, along with a maze of other peaks. The scene gradually unfolds like magic—an unforgettable view that must be seen to be believed.
The Trishuli River is a popular white-water rafting destination in Nepal, known for its exciting rapids and scenic views. It offers a thrilling experience for adventurers.
