This unique 10-day trip focuses on Nepal's agriculture-based economy, exploring its challenges and opportunities. The journey takes you to Ilam, a renowned tea-producing town, followed by visits to the Daman agriculture farm in Palung and Tistung, offering deep insights into local farming practices before returning to Kathmandu.
The economy of Nepal is primarily dominated by agriculture. It served as the main livelihood for over 80 percent of the population. However, only about 20 percent of the total land area was arable, yet it contributed, on average, nearly 60 percent to the GDP and roughly 75 percent of total exports. According to the World Bank, agriculture remains the primary source of food, income, and employment for the majority.
In efforts to boost agricultural output and diversify the agricultural base, the government emphasized irrigation, the application of fertilizers and insecticides, the introduction of new tools and high-yield seed varieties, and the availability of agricultural credit. However, challenges such as poor distribution of these resources and difficulties in procurement hindered progress. Despite land reclamation and settlement in the Terai Region, deforestation led to environmental degradation and ecological imbalance, further obstructing development.

Hotel/ Lodge: Single/Twin-sharing room with wooden beds, foam mattresses, and blankets (bring a sleeping bag for extra warmth/hygiene). Meals: During the hotel/guest house trekking, there are international menus so you can choose whatever you like. During the camping, our cook prepares the meals as your interest.
