FNMIS System has been implemented

byBy RSSThe Foreign Nationals Management Information System, (FNMIS) has been implemented. The government launched this system today, January 1, 2026.
The Immigration Department, which had earlier announced that the system would be implemented from October 1, made it mandatory from January 1 due to changing developments in the country.
According to the department, the system will be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, it has been made mandatory for star hotels in the Kathmandu Valley.
In the second phase, the system will be implemented nationwide from March 1, 2026, covering star hotels, airline companies, tour and travel agencies, and money exchange businesses.
The Immigration Department stated that it developed the foreign citizen registration and tracking system to protect foreign nationals visiting Nepal, facilitate information management, control potential crimes, and support the promotion of tourism.
With the implementation of this system, records of the residence and activities of foreign citizens entering Nepal will be systematically organized. It is expected to facilitate search and rescue operations and enhance security during emergency situations.
