Recognizing the increasing impact of climate change on humanity, BYN BLACKYAK officially announced the 'Himalayan Climate Charter 2025' during a special ceremony held in Kathmandu. This initiative calls for urgent global attention and cooperative action to safeguard the fragile and vital ecosystems of the Himalayas.

In association with the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, and the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC), the event titled 'Summit for Earth' was organized to unite climate experts, policymakers, environmental advocates, media representatives, and members of the global mountaineering community.

During the summit, participating organizations expressed serious concern over the rapidly escalating climate crisis in the Himalayan region. As a response, they collectively signed the Himalayan Climate Charter 2025—a joint declaration outlining a set of guiding principles and strategic actions aimed at promoting climate justice and environmental preservation.

The declaration underscores the importance of both global carbon reduction and the integration of local wisdom rooted in Himalayan traditions. It highlights the need to amplify the voices of Sherpas, Icefall Doctors, and other mountain stewards, while also incorporating advanced technologies such as drones and satellite systems to bridge traditional knowledge with modern innovation.

BLACKYAK and its partners pledged to immediate climate action, including sustained clean-up efforts in the Himalayas, the use of technology to monitor environmental conditions, transparent sharing of data, and global cooperation. The charter serves as a rallying call for solidarity in protecting one of the planet’s most iconic and endangered regions.
