Everest Base Camp on the south side is located in Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 meters (17,598 feet). The classic Everest Base Camp Trek from Lukla takes around 12 to 14 days round trip, covering approximately 80 miles. Although this may sound like a long journey, you typically walk for only 9 days of the trek, averaging around 9 miles (14–15 km) per walking day. Along the way, you will pass through Namche Bazaar and several traditional Sherpa villages, experiencing the unique culture and stunning landscapes of the Khumbu valley.

The Everest Base Camp trek is a physical encounter, but it is a high-altitude hike rather than a technical climb. One of the main risks during the trek is altitude sickness, also known as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), which can affect trekkers as they ascend to higher elevations.
