The lake is home to the snow trout (Schizothorax raraensis), one of the unique fish species found in the lake.

Kathmandu to Nepalgunj: There are many daily flights operating from early morning until evening. The flight duration is approximately 45 minutes. There are several airlines available, so you can choose the airline and flight time according to your preference.
However, since we are planning a same-day connecting flight to Talcha Airport, we need to take an early morning flight from Kathmandu. Therefore, we recommend our clients take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and an afternoon or evening flight while returning to Kathmandu.
Please note that flights from Nepalgunj to Talcha Airport are highly dependent on weather conditions and may not operate every day. The flight from Nepalgunj to Talcha Airport takes approximately 30 minutes.
Rara Lake Climate and Best Season
Rara Lake has a cool alpine climate throughout the year because of its high altitude at 2,990 meters above sea level. The weather around the lake changes according to the seasons and offers different experiences during different times of the year.
Spring Season (March to May)
Spring is one of the best seasons to visit Rara Lake. The weather remains pleasant and moderate, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Rhododendron flowers and many Himalayan wildflowers bloom around the forests, making the landscape colorful and beautiful. Daytime temperatures are generally mild, while mornings and nights can still be cold.
Summer / Monsoon Season (June to August)
