Kalapattar Trekking 2024

Kalapattar meaning is black stone or black hill. It lies down opposite of Mt. Pumori on the way to Everest Base Camp. Kalapathar or Kalapattar (5545 m) is one of the best view points in the world. Every year, many travelers have their own aim to run the feather of Mt Everest. One of the primary goals of a Kalapathar trekking is visiting Everest base camp (Sagarmatha Base camp) at an elevation of about 5370 meters. However, you cannot see Everest from the base camp, so most trekkers/climbers climb Kalapattar, at 5545 meters bump on the southern flank of Pumori (7145 meters) which is highly rewarding for the views over the entire Khumbu Mountains.

To get near Kalapathar, you must either walk from Jiri 12 days or fly to Lukla and walk 6-7 days. Many trekkers or climbers fly to Lukla and walk two days to reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is the Sherpa’s headquarters. Explore the National park office, monastery, Sherpa museum, Everest view point hotel, homeland of Sherpa village Kunde and Khumjung need one full day. Continue walking for 4, 5 hours to reach Tyangboche, the famous monastery. Many tourists join the daily worship celebration in Tengboche monastery. Passing through the Pangboche village, recommend an acclimatization day in Dingboche the altitude of 4410 m. From Digboche, bring you two days to Gorap-Shep. Group-Shep is the last sport for tea house trekkers. We will bring you to Kala Pattar for the billion of fantastic views and return either the same way or passing through Chola Pass to Gokyo valley.

Day 01: Lukla (2840 m) flight - trek Phakding 2640 m, 4 hours (B/L/D).

Day 02: Namche (3440 m), 6 hours (B/L/D).

Day 03: Namche Bazaar - rest day for acclimatization (B/L/D).

Day 04: Tengboche (3860 m), 5 hours (B/L/D).

Day 05: Dingboche (4350 m), 6 hours (B/L/D).

Day 06:  Acclimatization day (B/L/D).

Day 07: Lobuche (4925 m), 6 hours (B/L/D).

Day 08: Gorakshep (5170 m) - EBC (5370 m) - Gorak-shep, 7/8 hours (B/L/D).

Day 09: Kalapathar (5545 m) - Pheriche (4200 m), 6 hours (B/L/D).

Day 10: Tengboche (3867 m), 6 hours (B/L/D).

Day 11: Monju (2670 m), 5 hours (B/L/D).

Day 12: Lukla (2840 m), 3/4 hours (B/L/D).

Day 13: Kathmandu by flight (B).
