Everest climbers have to bring back poop bags

Mountaineers climbing Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, and nearby Mount Lhotse have to return with their poop bags.

According to the new initiatives introduced by Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, climbers will no longer be allowed to urinate or excrete faeces in the open. It is mandatory to carry their own poop bag or biodegradable bag for excretion in the region.

According to Rakesh Gurung, the director of the Adventure Tourism and Mountaineering Branch within the Department of Tourism, the local level has made this procedure for waste management within its jurisdiction. He said all climbers should follow this decision after discussion with the relevant authorities.
