Namo Buddha is situated on a hill above Panauti and requires either a drive or a substantial hike; walking is recommended to visit this place. There is an amazing story concerning the Buddha, commemorated by an ancient stone slab and a stupa with Buddha's all-seeing eyes. Namo Buddha is an ideal place for meditation. Dhulikhel / Namo buddha is located about 32 km plus 10KM east of Kathmandu and is accessible by private car, jeep, or tourist van, taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. The road climbs steadily into the hills, offering scenic views along the way.
For sunrise or sunset tours, early morning or evening drives are arranged with hotel pick-up and drop-off. While some public buses are available from Bhaktapur or Kathmandu, private transport is preferred for comfort and flexibility. Walking and short hikes are common once in Dhulikhel to reach viewpoints, towers, or surrounding villages for panoramic Himalayan views.
General Climate Overview
Nepal's climate is incredibly diverse due to its dramatic range in altitude, from the lowland Terai plains (around 60 meters above sea level) to the Himalayan peaks above 8,000 meters.
